(photo: Jessica Lehrman )The one week milestone has been reached. Occupy Wall Street has struggled and toiled through the week and made through to the weekend. The occupation survived: pouring rain, police harassment and intimidation, a media blackout, media coverage aimed to diminish the significance of the occupation, lack of supplies necessary for holding an encampment and lower turnout than hoped for on the first day.
Having made it to the weekend, “reinforcements” are arriving. From Maine, Wisconsin and other areas of the United States, carpools are making their way to Wall Street. There are also no less than 27 cities attempting to organize occupation actions of their own to show solidarity with Occupy Wall Street.
A march is planned for today at noon. The size of the group camping can also be expected to grow, regardless of the rain. Plus, Liberato’s Pizza continues to receive orders for food to be delivered and donated to the occupation.
FDL has been live blogging Occupy Wall Street from the beginning. The live blog resumes now. Here’s a list on Twitter to follow for the latest updates. A team of FDL users are constantly posting the latest updates from people at the occupation (sometimes posting the same update two and three times). If something happened and it isn’t here in the blog yet, scroll down to the comments to read what the community here at FDL is reporting.

LIVESTREAM OF THE OCCUPATION VIA GLOBAL REVOLUTION
10:50 AM

10:45 AM General Assembly releases “Principles of Solidarity,” a kind of manifesto showing the points of unity the occupation has agreed upon. It is a document that will be revised and updated democratically as the occupation continues:
Through a direct democratic process, we have come together as individuals and crafted these principles of solidarity, which are points of unity that include but are not limited to:
Engaging in direct and transparent participatory democracy;
Exercising personal and collective responsibility;
Recognizing individuals’ inherent privilege and the influence it has on all interactions;
Empowering one another against all forms of oppression;
Redefining how labor is valued;
The sanctity of individual privacy;
The belief that education is human right; and
Endeavoring to practice and support wide application of open source.

Go, Kevin!
Scoop the fake news. Scoop them into oblivion! They prove themselves useless on a daily basis.
POWER TO THE PEOPLE!
The wind is blowing and causing the live stream mike to be obscured. Maybe they should shelter it from the side the wind is blowing from.
Why isn’t this on the front page?
Police and two elderly suited gentlemen just came into the park and handed out documents saying they are in violation of the Park!
Who are the folks in suits handing put the pieces of paper?
The People’s Mike just called for somebody to call Sam, the legal rep.
They did not identify themselves but suspect they are from the City.

Just placed Notice up to camera and noted that it is not signed by anyone.

The Park is half public, half private. Has something to do with zoning laws as to what can take place there. They are going to research into this.
The message did not come with Zucotti Park letterhead or any owner signature.

Watched it briefly about 10 min ago, it was a rebroadcast of the earlier arrests from a couple of days ago (even though it says “live” on the screen – go figure).

I’m hoping to head down there within the next few days, as early as tomorrow.

No mention of this on MSNBC’s site that I could find. Not surprising.
Occupy Wall Street: Celebrities and Heroes at Liberty Plaza, NYC
http://www.suite101.com/news/occupy-wall-street-celebrities-and-heroes-at-liberty-plaza-nyc-a390235
Shame! Shame! What building are they at?
Cops freaking out on livestream. People chanting “the whole world is watching”.
I’ve been lurking all week, and will go back to lurking, but when I saw the notice, I started wondering about contingency plans. If everyone is kicked out of the park and there’s no other open area to camp in, is it possible that one of the unions supporting the occupation would be willing to allow people to sleep in one or more union halls?
I have no idea how far away the nearest one might be, so that means it would involve taking public transit to and from the financial district, but maybe donations would help cover that expense. My dad was president of his local union back in the 60′s and I’ve been to campaign events in a few since then–the one thing they all had in common was an auditorium and bathrooms. If they allowed people to camp in their auditorium and use the bathrooms, people who might otherwise leave if they are kicked out of the park might be able to stay. Unless it’s a big union hall auditorium, it will likely take several to accommodate everyone, but I’m guessing that the unions around NYC have larger membership and likely larger auditoriums there than the ones in the midwest that I’ve been to. Hopefully the park will remain open, and hopefully contingency plans have already been made if they have to leave, but I just thought I’d toss out this as a possibility they might want to explore.
Thank you to everyone who is posting the tweets and what’s going on in the livestream in the comments…my internet connection is too slow to catch what’s going on in the livestream.
What were the NYPD doing?
Could you tell what exactly happened?
That’s an excellent idea!
I can’t tell in that apparent footage re-broadcast. The barriers sure make the place look like a construction site.
Trying to find you on twitter. Says you don’t exist. I copied and pasted. Hmmm.
I’m not sure, but it looked like cops were trying to yank people over the gate?
“Tighten it up”. Good. Monitors of the march to make sure that no one gets picked off with a phony charge out of view?
I couldn’t find it either.
I’m pretty sure that was new, live footage. I’ve watched a lot of their replays, and not seen that before.

Yep. It doesn’t matter who or what charges, every arrest diverts the movement and marginalizes it as doing something illegal. Bad illegal that would deter people from joining it.
Not illegal, but it ain’t smart when your demonstrating.
Walking up a one-way street against traffic is probably the charge – jaywalking.
Haven’t heard from Paul W in a while. Hope he’s not arrested.

Who started hollering about going to the UN? That is the first thing to figure out. They had the people’s mic set up and working in a funky way, and then this provacateur (or jerk) stampeded them–because the UN issue is a hot issue.
There were a whole lot of new folks there and just seeing the police got their adrenaline too high to think things through. They got led where it would be hard to read what was going on—especially since walking the wrong way up on way streets had been part of the march to Union Square.

Can’t wait for all the lawsuits for some of the illegal arrests occuring. At least some lawyers are going to get some work out of this.
Good idea.
I send an email to the WH and my elected sellout Barara Boxer every single day.
Apparently this user is RT Press TV exclusively.
Someone/people are very nervous up top and are doing everything they can to drown out coverage on the Internet. If they own the media, which isn’t reporting anything, the only way news can spread is through the Internet.
Kevin just got a bucket full of retweets.

Is the live podcast down?
Exactly. I made a comment on Twitter how he wasn’t reporting on it, just enjoying his upper middle class weekend in lower Manhattan when he stumbled upon this ruckus from the commoners.

The police are above all laws when it comes to dealing with those the wealthiest and most powerful have asked their police force to get rid of.
From the live stream …
Acoustic set tonight at 9 PM EST by several bands.
We need more celebs and musicians to join this movement. It’s win win for them and they would bring much more attention to the amazing events occuring.
Why anyone believe anything the corporate media tells them is beyond me
Breaking the momentum of this demonstration now, before it really catches on, is much more important to the cops and the PTB than lawsuits that might happen down the road. The NY experience is that they committed massive civil liberties violations during the Republican Convention, and just got a little slap on the wrist for it. But they broke up that demonstration with their illegal tactics.

They’ve been doing that for over 10 years, after Seattle. Day before major protest, as well as day of, make mass arrests, keep people in limbo as long as possible, when protests are over and a few people are left begging for the arrested to be let go, then they do.

Presentation in English and Spanish asking for more immigrant activists at Liberty Square in NYC.
HOT DAMN! In the City!
Are they just picking on the young 20 somtehings? Has the police arrested one of those little older Teamsters yet?
Someone just stole my LinkedIn identity from this post. Or spoofed that they did.
Consider the Tweet text an unconfirmed report. But see if there is this going on. There seemed to be some hidden script code attached when the Tweet was copied.
Of course, Kevin gets a RW troll…
What? From Twitter or FDL?

Hopefully #OccupyWallStreet will still be happening then. Simulataneous mass protests in 2 of the most important cities in the US.
Kevin actually has someone who was at the scene on the radio link now…edit : NYC, 12th & 5th
In case you missed this, Kevin, this really needs to be added to the liveblog:

I’m sure it will. People are angry that the police have been so brutal to those kids.
http://twitter.com/#!/Dutchmasterr/status/117684718748708864/photo/1
It makes sense for them–they get to exercise raw, albeit illegal, power right now in the moment, any legal remedies are weak, uncertain, and much, much later. There is no true remedy for this type of power abuse.
I’ve tried that twice. Twitter says it does not exist!
Seconded.
Mods – thanks for “unbolding” us!
Thank goodness. There will be trouble at Liberty Park tonight, I’m betting.
horrible, horrible new video. Cops spray mace at netted protesters for no reason:

I wonder if the cops ever stop to think that they are doing the dirty work for people who would throw them out of their homes with ease or steal their pensions, or make sure their kids didn’t get a decent education. Those cops probably have kids the same age as those young women.
The cop who sprayed the mace was a white shirt supervisor. It was completely, totally unnecessary. He was walking up the street, and just went up to the net and sprayed. That was shocking.

Kevin’s webcast:
The guy from NYC was a really good speaker, not part of the occupation, just a resident.
He said the marchers were completely peaceful and the real disruption was the huge police presence. Cops told him that the protesters had a permit to march to union square but no further (paraphrasing) and were arrested because they exceeded their permit area.
Police rounded up everyone and then separated the protestors, pushed them to their knees and cuffed them. A lot of people wondered what they had done and tried to ask but were told to leave.
Also said the protesters had not been a problem at all in the park.
EDit: He seemed to feel that the police action was unnecessary and arbitrary.
I believe that some of them have. The biggest problem is that they all want to keep their jobs. What I can’t understand is why the brutalisty and focused only on the youngest ones there!
Request to use #UnionSquare hastag as it is trending.
I suspect is was a revenge/ego attack, since they felt humiliated being surprised at the numbers at union square. Wild guess. I could be way off.

Sorry to take so long getting back, but I checked what I could. Here’s what happened.
I was going through tweets and found one saying there was a vid. It went to a site labeled AnonOps, which previously had created some funky behavior with my browser. I quickly backed out of it just to avoid the annoyance. And continued tweeting. I found the tweet mentioned in my comment and copied and pasted it. Then I was going to annotate it outside the blockquotes. When I clicked in the box to annotate it, a pop-up dialog box opened with something about source and The Dissenter. It was an annoyance; it closed again. Tried to click in again. Same box came up. I closed that one as well. And then I finally got the text in and clicked Submit Comment. Then my pin tabbed LinkedIn page came up obscuring the refresh of this thread. I clicked back and the message was still there unposted, but this time I could add the notes that I did and Submit it.
Doesn’t matter to me. I’m a geezer. Not much left to do to me that hasn’t already been done.
smart.
Meme=”violent angry youth” — same as Mubarak’s OK kiddies, you’ve had your fun. Now go home and let the adults handle this.

Location and contact information: Precincts | 112th Precinct (Google map [Queens, NY])
That’s the kind of thing that makes me think very violent thoughts. Sorry, but it does.
Seems a no-brainer to me that the people in the crowd “are” the public (by definition), no? And they already have permissin from the private owners – so what’s with this notice?

The police net has arrived. Folks in the Park are preparing. Line of police vans near Park.
Is anybody watching the livestream/is it up? I can’t watch LS and be on twitter at the same time. Forget trying to listen to Kevin. I need a new computer.
livestrean : We are about to be raided. Evacuate most equipment.
I’m listening to LS. Shit seems to be about to hit the fan. They’re evacuating all footage of brutality.
Or a spoof of it. There is a Google shrink link that links to it the tweets. It has videos, the live stream and V mask that sort of floats over the margin.
But the problem came when I went to copy the other Tweet.
Well that should take some time and energy away from needed activities. Not as far out as I envisioned but good enough for the NYPD’s purposes.
People’s mic: “We are all prepared to stand as one” Cuts out.
Livestream Vlad is expecting to get arrested and addressing editors with passwords.
Livestream discussion of how they’ll be kettled.
Just an FYI – there’s a a message scrolling across the bottom of the livestream (I’m watching the livestream on truthout) that says the media team has been arrested and it gives a phone number 212-617-8000 – only that’s the number for Bloomberg investments. I got the real number for the city from them, its 212-788-3000. I called that number and they transferred me to the courts, where a Sgt Molly McGuire or some such said they are not in the system yet(she had such aheavy Queens accent I almost aked if she spoke english). Anyway, the guy at the 788-3000 number should be able to transfer to the 112th precinct.
“the world is watching” chant on livestream.
Here is where the training and discipline of the last week has either taken or it hasn’t. I hope that there are enough people there to generate a headline like “2000 arrested at Wall Street protest”.
Indeed we are.
Now, let me seriously bring this all up to speed. I’m done with that experiment but I think it can work better in a couple hours. I’m going to go live again soon.
There is a lot of YouTube footage that preserves sections of the livestream. Is there a way to archive that?
I just thought of this: Gitmo footage was the first time I ever say zip-ties used for handcuffs.

Livestream audio cutting in and out, they’re apparently trying to round up and save the equipment.
Edit: Going to Skype.
Thought I heard from the live stream that the Police Commissioner is on-site. I’d like that verified. Photos/video even better.
Livestream Vlad’s planning on trying to get the hell out of dodge after first shots of mass arrests taken at park before getting arrested himself.

Planning to switch to skype, sent to minnesota, for editors there to put on globalrevolution livestream channel.

I heard them say that too (in the context of why they thought mass arrest was coming.)
There was a tweet earlier that the Police commissioner was at a specific location of the march, I don’t recall where.
