So, how exactly is the 1% making this young woman pay for being part of the 99%?
I am 21 years old.
I am currently $15,000 in student debt and climbing each day.
When the economy tanked, Chase Bank sold off all of their federal student loans to a collection agency. Said collection agency made me pay back on my student loans while still in school at $450 a month. I am currently reaching the end on a 6th month deferment and will have to resume payment soon.
I have stopped going to college. I am too scared to rack up more debt and have no faith in the economy to find a job if I graduate.
I am currently living with family and working at a diner, part-time and minimum wage.
I am the 99%

Today’s young are having their futures destroyed.
But the Very Serious People are busy clutching their pearls.
The LATime’s Steve Lopez: Occupy L.A.’s 99%: all talk, no action
I would like to see some statistics on just how many entry level fulltime jobs with benefits there actually are out there, and in what fields. One of my sons just worked as this young lady is doing for two years at a very hard job and low salary, thinking he at least qualified for a few days of paid vacation – he always showed up when scheduled to work and did so late into the night, with those few days of ‘benefit’ before him – not to take some fancy cruise, but just to have a few days with family and not on call to work. Came vacation time and he applied for it – ‘Sorry,’ they said, ‘ You needed to work X number of hours; you don’t qualify.’
The number of hours he worked was only a couple of hours short of X.
You can bet they had that all figured out. No benefits and no promised paid vacation.
Indeed, allan: today’s young are having their futures destroyed. Cradle to grave.
