This is an interesting article that names the officers who were involved in the attack on Scott Olsen. I don’t know anything about the source, FWIW.
Also, Longshoremen will be joining the Oakland’s General Strike. They hope to shut down the ports on the West Coast.
I posted this in one of the other threads. It belongs here because you can bet the usual suspects will be hopping all over it.

Well, that’s what my friend who was in NOLA all month said, too. I feel really bad for the small but dedicated core group who really want to make it a “real” occupation. Supposedly, it’s actually gotten a lot better over the last month.
I was just hearing Michael Moore speaking at Occupy Portland. Just before he got there, personnel from DHS, the county sheriff’s office (Multnomah County) and Portland police were there and are still there (marked and unmarked vehicles, SUV and van) as tents have been pitched on the Federal property of Terry Schrunk Plaza (area marked General Assembly on the map). NLG legal observers are on-site and two local television station video crews (e.g. KATU & FOX). The word at the current assembly of people is that riot police are staged under the Hawthorne Bridge but I was not able to verify that with my own eyes.
Here’s the verification of police under the Hawthorne Bridge:

Jeannie Hartley was the person who was briefing protesters in Denver about the decisions that they had to make when the line of riot police were keeping them from the destruction of their personal gear being put into a garbage truck. She also walked the line of riot police and gave a little homily about the difference between violence and non-violent and that one could not be a “little bit violent”. She challenged the riot police to think about how they would view their actions when they went home that night. It was an awesome address.
The woman from the #occupyDenver media team gave a wonderful interview.
http://www.news9.com/story/15917745/occupy-okc-protester-found-dead-in-tent
UPDATED:
“Occupy OKC released the following statement on the death of the protestor.
“Occupy OKC is saddened by the passing of one of the participants camping at Kerr Park in Oklahoma City earlier this afternoon. Known simply as ‘The Poet,’ he was a very friendly and outgoing person. Known to be homeless, Occupy OKC provided him with food, clothing, and shelter. At a Candlelight Vigil last night to honor first responders, The Poet delivered a powerful poetic commentary about the complexities of homelessness and drug abuse, and the system’s failure to adequately deal with these issues. The Poet was found dead in his tent at Kerr Park earlier this afternoon by other participants. Police and emergency personnel were immediately contacted. Occupy OKC is withholding information concerning The Poet’s identity pending notification of his family by authorities. Police are currently at the scene investigating his cause of death which is presently unknown and Occupy OKC is in full cooperation with their investigation. Occupy OKC has been actively cooperating with the Oklahoma City Police Department to ensure the safety of all participants at the Kerr Park occupation.”
According to Occupy OKC, all their scheduled events on Monday have been canceled.”
The UK is a bit ahead of the US on the path to a police & surveillance state.
But I’m sure we seem to be closing the gap on that criterion.
Here’s something I picked up on the comment thread about the Ron Paul quote linked in the roundup:

Which was of course the purpose of it?

To Dave Gosztola:
Just dropped by (midnight 11/02/11)Occupy Erie via LiveStream. It’s a small outpost of #OWS, and right now they are under a gazebo being pelted by the icy wind blasting off of Lake Erie. These folks are strong, determined, but poor. They have much need of help:
Coffee, sleeping bags, wool socks, tarps, heaters, tables, printer, milk crates, large totes to hold blankets and other goods out of rain and snow, hats, scarves, wool gloves, hand and foot warmers, snow shovels and salt, lots of water, chairs, cushions and snuggies!!
Some cash would be good, too.
As a result of viewing “WikiLeaks, Whistleblowing & the Global Revolution Panel – Listen Now,” I also learned about RevolutionTruth.Org and, by a turn of fortunate events, was able to attend this evening’s event. Moore was ecstatic and had many encouraging things to say including that the #Occupy movement gives us all a chance to save this democracy that presently hangs by a thread. Occupy Everywhere!
That’s wonderful!

I spoke with a bit older couple who came. They were articulate with the markers of folks who at some point had been upper middle class. The gentleman said they were proud to have marched in the front of the parade the first day of Occupy Portland and that they had demonstrated at one of the too-big-to-fail banks that day. She said she had also thought about risking arrest for the principle of it until she saw how the police physically treated the demonstrators. She had hip replacements and their family could not afford for her to have a medical incident. We talked a bit about how those not physically able to take such direct actions can instead financially support others doing so including providing trained legal observers. They seemed please with the new ideas and had to get up to keep walking due to her physical condition.
