AP:
New York City police have begun removing Occupy Wall Street protesters who scaled a chain-link fence leading to a church-owned lot they want to use as a camp site.
Protesters used a wooden ladder to scale the fence Saturday. One man wearing a Santa suit stood among the protesters on the ladder as others cheered. While officers made arrests, protesters chanted obscenities and screamed: “Make them catch you!” About a thousand people gathered across the street at a city-owned park.
Protesters had gathered for speeches, live music and performances today in Duarte Square Park in New York’s TriBeCa neighborhood. Part of the half-block parcel is city-owned public land, while the other portion belongs to Trinity Wall Street, a nonprofit religious organization and one of the city’s largest real estate holders. Trinity hasn’t granted protesters permission for access.

Check previous live blog for events up to Times Square.
Protesters in Times Square decided to have a general assembly on the Red Stairs. Before they could get there, the NYPD blocked it off and dispersed everyone on the stairs. The folks on the stairs were either shoppers or tourists.
