Walmart Again Holds Food Drive for Own Underpaid Workers

By: Wednesday November 26, 2014 7:33 am

Happy Thanksgiving! Walmart, who pays its workers so little and/or gives them so few hours, that they cannot feed themselves while the Walton family rakes in billions, does have its sense of humor. Either that or they could just care so little about what anyone thinks that they are just like, whatever, what are you [...]

Arguments Against Raising Minimum Wage Don’t Hold Up

By: Wednesday August 27, 2014 6:59 am

The arguments against raising the minimum wage don’t hold up to facts. Aren’t most people who work for minimum wage teens? No– 88 percent are adults, with more than a third over age 40. These workers earn half of their families’ incomes. Meanwhile, the federal minimum wage has been stuck at $7.25 an hour since [...]

Just Raise the Minimum Wage

By: Thursday August 7, 2014 9:05 am

Raise the minimum wage. The arguments for are strong, and the arguments against don’t hold up to facts. One important reason to raise the minimum wage to a living one is that people who can afford to feed themselves will not need food stamps paid for by taxpayers. You still think everything on the dollar [...]

The Hyper-Wealthy Own Us (Literally)

By: Thursday June 19, 2014 8:20 am

When people talk about income inequality in the U.S., it often involves big, big numbers. Despite Falling Revenues, Walmart Increases Pay for Top Execs

By: Monday May 12, 2014 8:43 am

Sometimes the effects of our social and income inequality are easy to see, but hard to measure. For the Poor Workers Who Won’t Get to Spend Their Thanksgiving at Home

By: Thursday November 28, 2013 11:24 am

I am spending Thanksgiving with family and will be at home enjoying their company all day while I eat plenty of food. However, there are millions of workers in the United States that will not share my experience. They are victims of a shift in this consumer society. They do not have a choice and [...]

Thankful for the Walmart Strikers This Holiday

By: Thursday November 22, 2012 12:12 pm

There’s a despicable creep that the owners of Big Box stores and other businesses have brought about in this nation. The creep has been aided and abetted by the American people themselves. A product of capitalism, the creep has turned Thanksgiving into a holiday where some workers in this country cannot spend the entire day [...]
